The Team

About The Yacht Doctor

30+ years of marine and mechanical expertise, combined with operational leadership built in the field. Two owners who've spent their careers solving problems others missed.

Why We Started This

Two Perspectives. One Mission.

The Yacht Doctor combines two complementary skill sets: Ryan's 30+ years of technical depth and pattern-spotting intuition in marine and mechanical systems, and David's operational expertise, diagnostic speed, and client-focused execution from a family service background.

Together, they deliver proactive vessel wellness with the care and precision of a personal physician โ€” because every boat deserves to be ready when you are.

Ryan

Managing Partner & Chief Vessel Physician

Ryan brings over 30 years of hands-on experience in automotive and marine repair, paired with a lifelong passion for boating in the Pacific Northwest. An avid boater for three decades, he has deep expertise in diagnosing and maintaining complex mechanical systems โ€” engines, hydraulics, electrical, and beyond.

"What sets Ryan apart is his intuitive ability to spot patterns and outliers before they become problems โ€” quickly assessing issues, identifying root causes, and anticipating failures that others might miss."

Over the years, Ryan has stepped in countless times to rescue friends' cruising plans and vacations from deferred maintenance surprises โ€” often turning a potential disaster into a smooth day on the water. That personal drive to help and prevent problems is the foundation of The Yacht Doctor.

Ryan's technical depth ensures every vessel health check is thorough, proactive, and built on real-world insight. When he runs your engines and inspects your systems, he's drawing on decades of pattern recognition that no checklist alone can replicate.

David

Managing Partner & Vessel Physician

David brings operational leadership and a strong mechanical foundation to The Yacht Doctor. Raised in a family-operated service business in the Midwest, he developed an early and deep understanding of mechanical systems diagnostics, repair, and client service. His ability to quickly identify issues, resolve them efficiently, and keep things running smoothly has been a consistent strength throughout his career.

"David has a genuine passion for helping owners avoid surprises and protect their time on the water โ€” often jumping in at the dock or mid-cruise to keep friends' seasons intact."

Since moving to the Pacific Northwest 12 years ago, David has been an active part of the boating community, immersing himself in larger vessels and the unique demands of the region's variable conditions and short boating seasons. Like Ryan, he understands firsthand what it means to lose a cruising weekend to a preventable failure.

As Managing Partner, David oversees operations, client relationships, marketing, and growth โ€” ensuring every interaction with The Yacht Doctor is reliable, transparent, and focused on delivering confidence and peace of mind.

What We Stand For

Our Values

We built The Yacht Doctor on four principles that guide every visit, every report, and every recommendation we make.

๐Ÿค

Honesty First

Our reports tell you what your boat actually needs. No upselling, no fear tactics โ€” just a clear picture so you can make good decisions on your own terms.

๐Ÿ“Š

Data-Driven Care

A digital log that grows over time means we catch trends, not just symptoms. Your vessel's history is your advantage โ€” and ours.

๐Ÿ”ฌ

Technical Depth

We don't just look โ€” we understand what we're seeing. Advanced diagnostics, pattern recognition, and hands-on run-ups are built into how we work.

๐ŸŒŠ

Long-Term Partnership

We're not here for a one-time job. We want to know your vessel as well as you do โ€” and keep it cruise-ready season after season.
